Donald Trump wasn’t so fly about a mosquito that appeared to interrupt his rambling about President Joe Biden’s now-defunct reelection bid during a Fox News event on Wednesday.
The GOP nominee, in a televised interview advertised as part one of a “town hall” with host Sean Hannity as audience questions are set to air Thursday, remarked on Democrats wanting the president “out” in July and predicted that Biden wouldn’t have won the election if he stayed in the race.
“But we did a good debate, we had a good debate and it was a fair debate. And he was down like 18 or 19 points after the debate,” said Trump before he swatted the air around his head.
He continued, “I hate mosquitoes, I’m surprised. I didn’t think we had — we don’t like those mosquitoes, running around. We want nothing to do with them. But — and we want nothing to do with bad politicians that hate our country too if you wanna know the truth.”
The mosquito moment comes nearly three weeks after a fly seemingly landed on the former president’s face at a campaign event at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf course.
The winged episode brought to mind a fly that took a liking to Mike Pence’s head which sparked a wave of memes about Trump’s former vice president in 2020.
